Despite Heroic Efforts by Sage and Cory, USA Misses the Team Podium by a Mere Placing! 
What began as a day of great hope for the USA Junior Surf Team turned into a disaster as eight of the eleven team-members still alive in competition were eliminated from the event. 
With first heat of the day for the USA's Trevor Saunders, he scrapped his way through his early morning heat in the Repercharge/Losers round three to advance behind Venezuela's Rafael Pereira to get the USA Surf Team off to good start on day five of the event. 
Dane Zaun again using his aerial skills started the USA's day the right way by continuing to advance in the winner's bracket when he launched on his opening wave to get a great opening score that was enough to get him a solid second behind the Tahiti's Tamaroa McComb who had day four's top Under 16 combined score. 
Against the festive and bustling backdrop of a sun-soaked Cinco de Mayo weekend in Pacific Beach, the season finale of the Koastal Kaos Amateur Surf Series and the $25,000 Sobe No Fear Airshow Series delivered an action-packed, weekend for the competitors, spectators and KK crew. 
A great third day of competition for the USA Surf Team was lead by the Girl's squad as Courtney Conlogue was amongst the stand-out performers of the day.
