2006 NSSA Southwest Open Event #6 Wrap-Up

Held at the Huntington Beach Pier January 14-15, 2006
Huntington Pier provided some pretty sick little wedges for the event all weekend. Saturday was raining and small but looked sick! Sunday was when all the real action went down, local Pro, Micah Byrne even made a guess appearance down at the contest.
Ford Archbold boosted a sick front side air in his air show heat and took home $200, of which he quickly gave $50 to the Timmy Turner fund that the NSSA was collecting on the beach.
Another huge story was Kalohe Andino. Kalohe had scored a nearly perfect heat, 19.0 out of a possible 20.0, in the semi final round of the boys division. After that, he unanimously took the win in the final.
Parker Coffin was charging the biggest sets outside and ripping them all the way through the shore break and took the win in the Mini Grom’s division.
Sage Erickson blew the tail out on a bigger right-hander and scored an 8.0 for the one turn. That wave gave Sage the win in the Women’s division.
