2006 WCT Tour: Who Will Compete For Surfing's Next World Title?

WQS rookie Adriano De Souza ran away with the 2005 WQS title

2006 WQS QUALIFIED
The following surfers have already qualified for the 2006 WCT tour via the World Qualifying Series. These guys will make the big leap to the main tour after battling away for the better part of the entire year.

1 - Adriano De Souza - 13128 WQS points
2 - Shaun Cansdell - 10515
3 - Bobby Martinez - 10437
4 - Pedro Henrique - 10353
5 - Adrian Buchan - 9975

LOOKING GOOD
The top 15 WQS spots qualify, and the top 5 are already locked up. That means that there are 11 more spots up for grabs. While some of these surfers are more secure of qualification than others, they all must maintain their positions in order to qualify for the 2006 WCT tour.

6 - Paulo Moura - 9540 WQS points
7 - Greg Emslie - 9439
8 - David Weare - 9250
9 - Roy Powers - 9165
10- Mikael Picon - 9045
11- Jihad Khodr - 8849
12- Yuri Sodre - 8815
13- Tiago Pires - 8618
14- Tim Reyes - 8454
15- Glenn Hall - 8418
16- Luke Stedman - 8174

ALMOST THERE
The following 9 surfers have a good shot at qualifying, but must leap-frog some of the surfers ahead of them in the standings. Which basically means that they have to do really well in Hawaii. If they don't, it's back to the minors for another year slugging it out on the WQS tour.

17- Travis Logie - 8172 WQS points
(Logie is also highly likely to qualify via the WCT tour, therefore opening up another spot for the next highest WQS seed)
18- Troy Brooks - 8130
19- Raoni Monteiro - 8023
20- Ben Bourgeois - 7950
21- Rodrigo Dornelles - 7888
22- Gabe Kling - 7848
23- Marcondes Rocha - 7772
24- Jarrad Howse - 7613
25- Daniel Redman - 7587

Where are the rest of the Americans?
And here's the rest of the American boys who competed on the WQS tour and finished in the top 100

34- Nathaniel Curran - 7168 WQS points
37- Pancho Sullivan - 6990
39- Brett Simpson - 6948
51- Brian Toth - 6420
70- Joel Centeio - 5843
75- Jesse Merle-Jones - 5647
77- Dustin Cuizon - 5538
83- Sean Moody - 5252
84- Tom Curren - 5149
86- Mike Todd - 5074
89- Pat Gudauskas - 4992
93- Alex Gray - 4874
96- Rob Machado - 4795

Cory Lopez had a solid year on the 2005 WCT tour
