2005 Rip Curl Search WCT Reunion Island Pre-Event
GREAT WAVES LINE SAINT LEU AGAIN TODAY
Clean 4-6ft waves machined through Saint Leu all day again today, providing an ideal welcome for the host of WCT surfers that arrived in Reunion Island last night or early this morning.
The Rip Curl team were out in force, sharing the left-hander with the likes of Andy Irons, Luke Munro and Taj Burrow.
Being a Rip Curl sponsored event, the team is a little larger here in Reunion Island than at most WCTs around the world. As well as WCT pros Mick Fanning, Nathan Hedge, Darren O'Rafferty and Raoni Monteiro; Tom Curren and Ben Dunn will surf the main event via Wildcard entries, and eight other Rip Curl riders will contest the Optique Bourbon / Rip Curl Eyewear Trials tomorrow.
The St Leu set-up has been pumping for days.

Set to start at Saint Leu at 9am tomorrow morning (local Reunion time), the Trials event features a round robin format. The eight Rip Curl team riders will join eight of Reunion's best local surfers in a quest for the Trials Wildcard. The local surfers' wave experience will be a major advantage at the high performance reef break, but all of the trialists are sure to see good waves in a predicted 3-5ft swell.
