THE 12TH ANNUAL HERITAGE RIP CURL MEMORIAL PRO

MACHADO TAMES ISABEL AT THE FOSTER'S PRO SURFING TOUR EVENT

Machado tames one of Isabel's smaller children.

The 12th annual Heritage Rip Curl Memorial Pro took place at Sea Isle, New Jersey, on September 18-21. On hand were many of the world’s top professional surfers all competing for the $50,000 prize purse. The sixth stop on this year's Fosters Pro Surfing Tour carries vital ratings points as a Three Star World Qualifying Series event. Sea Isle, New Jersey lived up to its reputation as being one of the desirable spots on the East Coast as Hurricane Isabel produced solid 3-5 ft. surf and ideal conditions.

After three strong days of competition, only a handful of surfers were able to rise above the rest. Taking advantage of the solid hurricane surf and pushing their way into semifinal No. 1 was Tim Reyes (USA), Eric Taylor (USA), Chris Ward (USA) and Heath Walker (AUS). Semi No. 2 saw the skilled surfing talents of hometown hero Dean Randazzo (USA), Cam Anderson (USA), Rob Machado (USA) and Ben Bourgeois (USA). The combination of power and finesse of surfers Heath Walker, Tim Reyes, Dean Randazzo, and Rob Machado prevailed into the final round. Timmy Reyes combined hard turns and progressive surfing to secure himself a solid 2nd place finish; however, it was the fast turns and quick snaps of tour veteran Rob Machado that took home the win.

Final Results

1) Rob Machado (USA) $7,000
2) Tim Reyes (USA) $3,500
3) Heath Walker (AUS) $2,500
4) Dean Randazzo (USA) $2,000
