All the action is in Europe this week with an ASP Pro Junior event at Amado in Portugal, an ASP WQS 1-Star men’s event also in Portugal at Cordoama and the Roxy ASP Women’s World Longboard Championships here in Biarritz, France.

The ASP Grade-1 Buondi Pro Junior at Amado saw both boys and girls divisions won by Reunion Island surfers Romain Cloitre and Canelle Bullard.

For Cloitre, it is back-to-back wins at Amado and his 4th career ASP Pro Junior win.

For Bullard, it is her maiden victory.

In the ASP WQS 1-Star Super Bock Pro at Cordoama, Spain’s Pablo Gutierrez held off Eduardo Fernandes from Portugal to take his second ASP WQS career win, the last being way back in 2002 also in Portugal at Caparica. Gutierrez also has one ASP Pro Junior win from 2000 at Newquay, England.

For Fernandes, it was his first ever ASP WQS event.

As this event was only an ASP WQS 1-Star, the ratings basically remain unchanged for the top 200 or so.

Here in Cote des Basques, Biarritz at the Roxy ASP Women’s World Longboard Championships, we are down to the last 16 surfers. All the girls who made the third round equal 17th spot are guaranteed a start into next year’s championship again here at Biarritz. The remaining 16 slots will be wildcards and finalists from Roxy events in USA, Hawaii and Australia later this year and early next year.

The U.S. Open is looming with the trials starting next weekend and the ASP WQS 1-Star in Hawaii, the Macy’s E Series, will also be finishing up.
