WQS Update With Al HuntChecking in on the 2008 WQS tour as Aussie Phil MacDonald wins the 6-Star Buondi Billabong Pro in Portugal

Sign up for the official ASP newsletter HERE. ![]() The ASP WQS 6-Star Buondi Billabong Pro at Ericeira, Portugal has been completed with former ASP Top 45 surfer Phil MacDonald(AUS) taking out his second career ASP WQS title, the other being back in 2006 at the ASP WQS 1-Star DaKine Pro in Australia. ‘Macca’ outpointed USA’s Patrick Guduaskas in the Final and equal 3rds were Eneko Acero from the Basque region of Spain and Brazilian Heitor Alves.
In the ratings Top 20, only Nathan Yeomans (USA) has ped out making way for MacDonald. Big movers this week upwards were Patrick Gudauskas from 10th to 4th, Tim Boal 8th to 5th, Tiago Pires 20th to 12th and Macca 42nd to 14th. There were no other major s in the ratings worth mentioning. The current Top 20 now are: Congratulations to Stephanie Gilmore for her win in the Rip Curl Pro Mademoiselle in France and on moving to the top of ASP Women’s World Tour ratings. The ASP Pro Juniors had two events this week, with Lee Anne Curren (FRA) taking out the Rip Curl Girls Festival in France and Cory Arrambide the Oakley Pro Junior on the US East Coast. More definitive action in the coming week.
