SURFING Magazine takes a closer look at the 2006 NSSA Open Finalists. 
A testament to the fact that the Mediterranean has surf. Rob Gilley takes us on a Greek Surf Odyssey with Joe Curren, Mike Todd, and Ben Bourgeois. 
The final day at Nationals is not all toilet tricks, it's downright nerve racking. All the buildup from the whole year boils down to this: 6 kids, sitting out the back at the world's wettest skate park with just under 30-minutes to change the surfing world. At Lowers? 2-5 foot and glassy all day. Just about everywhere else on the coast? Flat. Roll up to Lowers at 5 in the morning and you're already too late. Carissa Moore and Dane Zaun are on it, laughing and splitting peaks still hours to go before the sun rises above the San Mateo Mountains and the first heat bell whines. 
We all quit surfing out of embarrassment. These kids are that good. Check out the photos! 
The portable generators are purring, the extra porta-potties are up and waiting, the camera men are poised, and the crowds are-well, it's Lowers, they're always there, but this time they're all on the beach. 
Taj Burrow sinks in and disappears for, what, 10? 15? Some are saying 20 seconds? Will someone please check the video replay? 
The Second Annual Celebrity Surf Jam presented by Adidas, Op and Fed Ex, went off on June 10 on the South Side of HB Pier. On hand were stars like Minnie Driver, Brandon Boyd, the Switchfoot crew, Pennywise band-mates and our very own Sal Masekela. 
Rip Curl is forever on the Search for surfing's hottest future stars. The GromSearch Series is our window into the grommet world and we want the world's best youngsters to get involved. 
The Folly Beach Wahine Classic took place June 3 & 4, in fun 2-3ft surf at the Washout on Folly Beach. Over 90 women and girls participated making this the largest contest in the event's 6 year history.
