Celebrating Pipe's Greatest Champions On December 6th, at the Turtle Bay Hilton on the North Shore of Oahu, Vans, Rip Curl, and SURFING Magazine, assembled all past Pipe Masters winners in honor of the event’s 35th anniversary. 21 of the 23 greatest Pipeline surfers of all time showed to accept accolades from their friends and peers in the sport. The night was a raucous, but reverential event, complete with a classic Occy rant, Simon Anderson’s perfected dead-pan humor, and a lot of standing ovations. Awards were also given out for Randy Rarick and Jack Shipley, without whom the Pipe Masters would likely have ceased long ago.
