REMEMBERING FLAME
Surf Gallery exhibit of the late photo legend's work raises tens of thousands of dollars for the Follow the Light foundation.
We're not sure if he would have laughed or cringed, but there it was on Friday night: dozens of the late Larry "Flame" Moore's most iconic images, framed and displayed prominently in Laguna Beach's Surf Gallery. SURFING Magazine's legendary photo editor wasn't big on contemplation or overthinking things - he was too busy plotting the next wave, the next swell and the next shot. Fortunately, Moore has the rest of us to acknowledge what a skilled artist he truly was. Technical, tack-sharp and peak action - Flame never let The Moment pass him by. All that was clear at the Flame exhibit, when everyone from his family to his former colleagues to his former subjects to his many admirers stopped by, praised his work and - by purchasing a Flame book or an image -- helped make the Follow the Light Foundation a blessing to some aspiring, young photographer. Thanks to Candace Moore, Bob Hurley and the Follow the Light Foundation committee for making it happen.

The line was out the door for the Flame book - or was it for Nick's signature?
