In The Name Of Flame

The Mint Gallery in Dana Point displays the late Larry “Flame” Moore’s work to help raise funds for Follow the Light Foundation

When the legendary lensman and SURFING Photo Editor Larry “Flame” Moore passed in 2005, his one request is that his work help inspire the next generation of groundbreaking surf photographers. With the Follow the Light Foundation, which awards a $5,000 grant to a promising young photographer each year, Flame’s legacy remains intact. Last week, The Mint Gallery hosted “Follow the Light Night,” a collection of Flame’s best photos and hundreds of “local ripper” prints available for those Salt Creek surfers who happened to get one in front of Flame’s lens (which means just about every one of them). The proceeds went to Follow the Light and the locals got to reminisce and take a piece of history home with them.

If you haven’t done so already, be sure to check updates for this year’s Follow the Light grant at www.FollowTheLightFoundation.org
